Student Option Mental Health Technician (MHT)
This position is available with four 8‑hour shifts, including one weekend day per month and two holidays per year (one winter, one summer). Employees may be scheduled to float between various units.
A two‑week orientation is mandatory, scheduled from 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
Rockford Center is a 138‑bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE. The center offers inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. It is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in Delaware and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland.
Position SummaryIn this rewarding role, you will provide direct patient care to geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and children with psychiatric disorders to ensure their safety and well‑being.
Responsibilities- Monitor unit patients and complete rounds as assigned
- Participate in treatment planning
- Assist in the admission process
- Orient new patients to the unit and their program
- Plan and prepare for group therapy sessions
- Maintain patient, program, department and related documentation

- Currently working toward a Nursing Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or having relevant experience with adults in a behavioral health setting; strong communication, customer service, organizational, listening and clinical skills.
- One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
- CPR certification and completion of Handle with Care training during orientation process.
