Primary Purpose

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Manage the development and creation of work packages, ensure quality and standard of work packages, and maintain daily communication with Work Management and the Supervisor Composite Work Team (CWT). Understand capital and O&M splits. Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise craft personnel engaged in the construction, operation and maintenance of company equipment to ensure safe, efficient, economical and expeditious completion of work with regard to budget, quality and safety standards.

The Sr Work Planner / Supervisor will also function as a supervisor to support high workload times and vacations coverage as needed. Position may be required to work extended hours and rotate for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties
  • Plan, create, review, approve and assign work packages to respective employees
  • Review work packages for readiness and ensure accurate work hour estimates. Assist in increasing productivity of field forces. Verify work instructions are adequate and comply with all procedures. Review and approve all required work packages, participate on work screening calls, perform job walk downs and provide resource estimates for jobs as needed.
  • Interface with Work Management, Supply and Engineering to identify and resolve work package issues and to facilitate and enhance work package development quality.
  • Functions as a fully qualified FLS when needed. Effectively supervise craft personnel to ensure that all assigned activities are performed safely and effectively in accordance with plant standard processes and procedures.
Job Scope
  • Reports to the Regional Manager:
    Responsible for planning and directing the safe work performance of an average workforce of 9-20 employees including Crew Leader, Lead Crew Leader, Substation Mechanic, Substation Helper, Overhead Electrician, Splice, and related roles.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Work Control Coordinators, Work Week Managers and Schedulers.
  • Responsible for environmental stewardship of equipment and facilities to minimize impact on the surrounding community and natural resources.
  • Understand labor strategies involving the local Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Determine manpower estimates and equipment requirements necessary for scheduled work to maximize utilization of substation crews.
  • Maintain effective internal business controls. Perform safety audits, facilitate meetings and investigations.
  • Maintain regular contact with Transmission System Operations, Operations Control Center (OCC), Field Operations, Construction & Maintenance, Work Management, Engineering, Asset Management, and local union stewards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
  • 4-7 years utility experience or equivalent external experience
  • Must meet the requirements of the Supervisory Assessment Program
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated leadership and accountability behaviors
  • Proficient in Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Passport
