Service Assistant III - Tram Driver (SAIII)

Christiana Care is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Service Assistant III - Tram Driver to support linen distribution for the Christiana Hospital campus. This role is essential to maintaining the smooth flow of clean and soiled textiles throughout the hospital and ensuring our clinical teams have what they need to provide exceptional patient care.

Christiana Hospital - Newark Campus
Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
Requirements: Every Other Weekend & Holidays

• Safely operate tram equipment to transport textile carts throughout the hospital.
• Identify, select, and deliver carts to designated locations while following safety guidelines.
• Move soiled linen bags into carts from the linen chute and prepare carts for exchange.
• Complete the tram safety checklist at the start of each shift.
• Maintain equipment integrity and promptly report maintenance needs.
• Demonstrate Christiana Care's values of Excellence and Love in all interactions.
• Provide friendly, customer-focused service when interacting with staff, patients, and visitors.
• Adhere to departmental safety rules and report hazards promptly.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Six months of tram or forklift experience preferred

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Must pass physical exam (drug-free; able to see, hear, speak, and ambulate)
• Completion of in-house Tram Operator Certification (training provided)

• Exposure to soiled linen and laundry
• Exposure to moving mechanical equipment
• Frequent interaction with nursing staff, patients, visitors, and Textiles team

This position has a starting rate of $18.08 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.15 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $22.18 per hour. This pay rate/range represents Christiana Care's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.

The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
