Opportunity:
Part‑time position with two 12‑hour shifts per week, including rotating weekends and holidays throughout the year.
(2‑week orientation required: Mon–Fri 8:30 A‑5:00 P)
Rockford Center is a 138‑bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. The facility is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in Delaware and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland.
Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients as prescribed by the physician and is under the direction and supervision of the appropriate facility nursing leadership. The RN provides nursing care specific to the age population served. Nursing activities are limited to those in compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Conduct ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned, following physician orders and facility protocols.
- When administering PRN medications, assess for confirmed medication, document rationale and effectiveness in the medical record.
- Report changes in patient physical or mental status or episodes of seclusion and restraint to the nurse manager or supervisor during each shift.
- Ensure family and physician notification is completed and documented if a patient is transported to the Emergency Room, injured, falls, or placed in seclusion or restraints.
- Collaborate with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care.
- Perform treatments and therapies as ordered by the physician in an appropriate and timely fashion.
- Document patient care, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
- Document PRN medications given, reason, and effect.
- Initiate emergency measures according to age‑appropriate CPR and client resuscitation protocols.
- Participate in emergency crisis interventions using age‑appropriate techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality related to patient, family, client, facility, and staff in accordance with HIPAA; provide care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner that respects cultural diversity and age‑appropriateness.
