Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Unit - Night Shift

Registered Nurse (RN) – 6B Medical Unit (Night Shift, 7p–7a)

Role Overview

Christiana Care Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for our 6B Medical Unit. As a medical nurse, you will engage in a relationship‑based care model, building relationships with patients, their families, and your peers, guided by our values of love and excellence.

Unit Details

6B is a 40‑bed medical inpatient unit providing acute medical care 24/7. The unit accommodates adults aged 18+ with conditions such as pneumonia, syncope, diabetes management, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), altered mental status, and other acute/chronic medical services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care in an acute medical setting.
  • Maintain relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Document nursing care and respond to patient needs using evidence‑based protocols.
  • Coordinate care transitions for admissions, transfers, and discharges from ED, ICU, and other hospital areas.
  • Support the 6B unit’s commitment to safe, high quality, patient‑centered care.
Qualifications
  • Active RN license in Delaware or a Compact State.
  • BSN preferred or commitment to acquire BSN within 3 years of hire.
  • Minimum one year of medical/surgical RN experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, bend, and climb as per unit physical demands checklist.
