Job Description

The Wound Care Nurse will provide specialized care for ICU patients, focusing on managing and treating various types of wounds, including pressure injuries. This role requires maintaining an Excel spreadsheet to document key metrics for each patient with a pressure injury and participating in wound rounds and prevalence studies.

Responsibilities
  • Administer wound treatments and dressings, including alginates, foams, hydrocolloids, and VAC therapy.
  • Conduct wick/ulcer assessment and management, including staging and prevention risk assessment.
  • Implement infection control and isolation precautions as necessary.
  • Educate patients and families on wound care and management.
  • Document and assess wound-related data and patient care metrics.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to address patient needs effectively.
Qualifications
  • Active New Jersey or Compact nursing license at the time of submission.
  • Current BLS certification and Wound Care Certification (CWCN or WOCN).
  • Minimum of one year of experience in wound care, specifically in an acute care or critical care setting.
  • Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management and various wound treatment methods.
