Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health Contract Opportunity
This opportunity is a 3‑month contract offering 12‑hour shifts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (day shift) and 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. (night shift) with rotating weekends. A 2‑week orientation is required Monday‑Friday 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Rockford Center is a 138‑bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing a full complement of inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children and adolescents, adults, and older adults. Rockford is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in DE, and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland. Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Services:

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients as prescribed by physicians and is under the direction and supervision of nursing leadership. The RN is responsible for age‑specific care and performs activities in compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Conduct ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned and dictated by patient condition in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
- When administering PRN medications, assess for confirmed medication, document rationale and effectiveness in the medical record.
- Report changes in patient physical, mental status or episodes of seclusion or restraint to the nurse manager or supervisor during each shift.
- Ensure family and physician notification is completed and documented if a patient is transported to the Emergency Room, injured, falls or is placed in seclusion or restraints.
- Collaborate with team members in the development, implementation and evaluation of individualized plan of care.
- Perform treatments and therapies as ordered by physicians in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Document patient care, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
- Document PRN medications given, reason and effect.
- Initiate emergency measures according to age‑appropriate CPR and client resuscitation protocols.
- Participate in emergency crisis interventions using age‑appropriate techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality related to patient, family, client, facility and staff in accordance with HIPAA. Provide care in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age‑appropriateness so that autonomy, rights and dignity are preserved.
