Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift - 36 hours per week - Full time - 3C Medical Stepdown

Job Overview

Christiana Care Health System seeks a Registered Nurse to work 36 hours per week on the Night Shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) at Christiana Hospital on the 3C Medical Unit Stepdown. The unit recently received the AACN Beacon Award for Excellence – Silver 2022‑2025. The role requires providing patient‑centered care while working evenings, weekends, and holidays as directed by departmental guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver holistic, patient‑ and family‑centered care that ensures comfort and positive outcomes.
  • Conduct patient assessments, monitor conditions, and manage emergencies as they arise.
  • Handle a typical patient assignment of 4–5 patients.
  • Provide education related to medications and disease processes to patients and families.
  • Manage telemetry monitoring, non‑ventilator trach collar, High Flow Nasal Cannula, wound care, and related interventions.
  • Care for a range of diagnoses, including Respiratory Failure, COPD, Acute Renal Failure, GI Bleed, DKA, Sepsis, and others.
Qualifications
  • BSN required. ADN candidates may be considered with a commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of hire if they have relevant experience.
  • Minimum one year of acute or sub‑acute care experience; preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Excellent communication, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with an interdisciplinary team and peers.
  • A positive outlook and willingness to embrace change; compassionate and dedicated caregiving attitude.
