Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift - 3D Transitional Medical (Stepdown) Unit-36 hours per week - C

Position Overview

Registered Nurse – 3D Transitional Stepdown Unit (Night Shift), 36 hours per week at Christiana Hospital. Includes weekend and holiday coverage per department guidelines.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize critical thinking and clinical expertise to assess, plan, and deliver individualized care to adult patients with a respiratory focus.
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team including nursing, social work, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, pulmonology, nephrology, cardiology, and infectious disease specialists.
  • Provide comprehensive, patient‑ and family‑centered care, including education about medications and disease processes.
  • Monitor patients closely, manage emergencies, and assist with transitions to appropriate levels of care.
  • Administer advanced ventilatory support, tracheostomy care, suctioning, and wound care for patients with diagnoses such as ventilator‑dependent respiratory failure, COPD, pulmonary hypertension, acute renal failure, GI bleeding, DKA, sepsis, and others.
  • Maintain 3–4 patient assignments, ensuring optimal staffing and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
  • BSN required. ADNs may be considered with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years of hire.
  • Minimum one year of acute or sub‑acute care experience.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Board certification in Medical‑Surgical, Geriatric, Progressive Care, or Critical Care Nursing is encouraged.
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with interdisciplinary team members and peers.
  • Positive outlook and willingness to embrace change.

Compensation

Hourly Pay Range: $41.28 – $66.05, dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications.
