Program Overview
Emergency Department Nurse Residency Program that starts Spring 2027 for senior nursing students, new graduates, and RNs with less than a year of experience.
The program is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and spans 26 weeks, combining classroom education, simulation, and preceptor‑led clinical experiences.
Upon completion the participant is hired as a staff nurse in one of Christiana Care’s three Emergency Departments:
Newark Campus, Wilmington Campus, or Middletown Emergency Department.
- Structured and accredited curriculum promoting competency, reduced error, lower stress, and higher job satisfaction.
- Lecture, simulation, peer support, and evidence‑based practice.
- Clinical rotation under experienced emergency nurses.
- Post‑program support with residency meetings in months 8, 10, and 12.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school before March 2027 (BSN preferred).
- BLS certification.
- Less than 12 months of nursing experience at the start of the program.
- Eligibility for Delaware RN licensure (Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse or Compact RN).
- Pass the State Board exam and be licensed as an RN in Delaware or a compact state prior to starting.
- Commitment to work at Christiana Care for two years, with at least 15 months on the unit of hire; failure to meet the commitment triggers a $10 000 penalty.
- Upload cover letter and transcripts in “Resume/CV/Other Documents” (PDF format).
- Submit a cover letter addressed to Meghan Blomquist and expressing interest in the Emergency Department residency.
- Include resume, unofficial transcript, and two clinical recommendations (to be provided later if qualifications are met).
- Applications open until 11:59 pm on August 16.
- Final deadline for reference tasks (Skill Survey & Hey Milo) is August 25.
- Digital interviews will begin late September and continue until mid‑October.
- Residency start date: mid‑March 2027.

Base pay is a flat rate of $38.61 /hr plus applicable differentials.
