These summer youth employment positions are open for young people aged 14‑21 years with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Parks and Recreation. Positions are available on Field Teams working in each of the three counties, and individual park placements in one of the 17 Delaware State Parks statewide. All members complete park‑based projects that impact visitor experience and conservation, as well as trail projects throughout state parks in the team’s region.

All positions are seasonal, working up to 28 hours per week for 6 weeks, June 15 2026 – July 31 2026. The mission of the Delaware State Parks YCC is to engage youth in important conservation and park projects while providing learning that fosters teamwork, self‑esteem, social responsibility, and respect for the environment.

Consideration will also be given to students who are unable to adhere to these dates because of snow days and school schedule in June.

• Practical job work experience.
• Environmental education and experiences.
• Job and/or college preparation.

• Assist with park‑based projects.
• Assist with native and invasive plant survey and identification.
• Participate in trail maintenance and possible trail reconstruction/construction projects.
• Conduct litter cleanup and waterway and shoreline cleanup.
• Assist Conservation Technicians with grounds work throughout the park.
• Assist park visitors with facility and/or park resources use.
• Assist in maintaining park resources and facilities.
• Demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a Casual/Seasonal position, non‑pension eligible, without healthcare and/or other benefits. Work shirts, protective equipment and tools will be provided. Transportation from base site to work area will be provided.

• This is an environmental stewardship summer job, not a summer camp experience; participants will work hard, sometimes in difficult conditions including mud, hot sun, and mosquitoes and flies.
