Context of job

The laboratory of electrochemical Analysis and Diagnostics headed by Dr. Yao at the University of Delaware is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to conduct research on the diagnostics of failure and its mitigation in fuel cell and water electrolyzer systems in collaboration with the UD Center for Clean Hydrogen.

Major responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for experimental research in catalyst and membrane degradation using electrochemical tools such as Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy coupled with electromagnetic spectroscopy including but not limited to Raman spectroscopy, X-ray spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and electron microscopy. Data analysis, scientific deduction, and proposals for remediation solutions are expected products of the work.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or equivalent.
  • Fluent understanding of the principles of Electrochemical Engineering and Materials characterization using X-ray spectroscopy and Visible light spectroscopy.
  • Excellent command of data analysis using proven and relevant mathematical principles.
  • Excellent and experienced familiarity with experiment design principles and execution.
  • Excellent command of scientific writing and reporting in English with a history of self‑written publication (with or without supervisory input).
  • Original scientific thinker and good team player.
  • Organized and attentive to details and deadlines.
  • Applicants must at minimum be available and dedicated to work until 9/30/26.
