Lab Tech / Assistant
Chemours is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials team! This position will report directly to the Global Technology Manager, TeflonTM PTFE at our Newark, DE location. This key role is responsible for operation of battery laboratory equipment and materials processing.
Responsibilities- Operate lab and pilot scale equipment for handling, weighing, mixing, and processing various chemicals.
- Assemble, monitor, and perform basic analysis of electrochemical devices such as lithium ion battery cells.
- Safely conduct wet chemistry experiments involving corrosive, toxic, and flammable chemicals.
- Document and audit specific operating, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical processes, controls, analytical, or laboratory issues.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1–2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in chemistry.
- Fine motor skills to perform small, delicate & detailed tasks.
- Excellent record‑keeping and notebook skills.
- Ability to read and understand complex Standard Operating Procedures.
- Self‑motivation and ability to work independently to complete given tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications with a focus on data entry, such as Word, Excel, SharePoint.
- Ability to wear an air‑line respirator, work in close quarters, and climb ladders/steps while donned in full PPE.
- Ability to lift 45lbs. and move drums/containers using correct ergonomic methods.
- Ability to perform duties that may require long periods of standing.
- Familiarity with using a glove box and electrochemical devices.
- Associate’s degree or higher in electrochemistry or chemistry, or 3+years of related industrial experience.
