Research Scientist, Lab Tech / Assistant
Position Overview
We are looking for a R&D Associate Chemist to join the Thermal & Specialty Solutions team at the Chemours Discovery Hub located in Newark, DE. The role supports R&D projects focusing on process development, scale‑up, and commercial‑scale manufacturing as well as existing plant support.
Responsibilities- Perform organic synthesis laboratory tests and procedures according to standard protocols and safety guidelines.
- Carry out daily lab operations including setup of reactions, purification, and characterization (GC‑MS, NMR, IR, MS, etc.).
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and devices.
- Execute designed experiments under the supervision of senior chemists.
- Record, analyze, and report data using software and databases.
- Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures and regulations.
- Communicate and collaborate with other lab staff, researchers, and supervisors.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in chemistry or a similar technical field, or a high school diploma with 5+ years of relevant chemistry laboratory experience.
- At least five years of experience working in a chemistry laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safe working practices.
- Experience working with HF or willingness to learn how to handle HF.
- Ability to carry out experiments independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team with attention to detail, accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to accurately record observations and results in a manner that protects intellectual property.
- Good computer skills in Windows operating system and willingness to learn new software.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple, complex, time‑sensitive projects.
- GC‑MS operation and maintenance experience.
- Experience with compression and pipe fittings.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Automation and instrumentation experience.
- Pay Range (local currency): $73,947.00 – $
- Annual Bonus Target: 6%
