Description:
The Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a responsible, motivated undergraduate student who will work under the supervision of the lab coordinator for microbiology. Applicants should be comfortable working in a lab with BSL 2 microorganisms and be able to follow written and verbal instruction.
Primary Responsibilities:
The lab aide will work in the microbiology media prep room with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Cleaning
- Handling prep room equipment including an autoclave
- Dispensing machines and industrial dishwasher, handling biohazardous lab waste
- Handling common lab chemicals
- Aiding in media prep for teaching labs
- Other routine lab work
Qualifications:
- Must be Work Study Eligible
- The ability to lift 25 lbs. with or without assistance
- You will receive training for this position and no prior laboratory experience is necessary. This is not a research position.
