About the Role
Facility Refrigeration Technician supporting manufacturing and facility infrastructure at the Glasgow, DE Siemens Healthineers Site. The role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting refrigeration equipment to ensure the site operates efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities- Work within cross‑functional teams to install and maintain refrigeration equipment such as walk‑ins, reach‑ins, and ice machines following plans, specifications, codes, and standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose malfunctioning systems and ancillary components, including refrigeration, ventilation, air compressors, air conditioners, boilers, heat pumps, wells, chillers, and environmental units.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on refrigeration systems and determine the need for repair or replacement of mechanical, electrical, or fluid components.
- Read and understand diagrams, blueprints, and schematics for mechanical and HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, and pneumatic controls.
- Fit and assemble small‑diameter copper piping, including soldering.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and refrigerant logs in accordance with established procedures and federal law.
- Complete electronic logs and utilize Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Work with vendors to specify and order required parts.
- Operate various meters and testers, leak‑testing equipment, refrigeration gauges, pressure gauges, torches, recovery units, vacuum pumps, and related repair devices.
- Collaborate with external service suppliers and work within a work order system.
- Work with PLC‑controlled mechanical and pneumatic systems.
The role requires working across the Glasgow site in varying weather conditions, including hot, humid, cold, and rainy environments. The technician must wear appropriate PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and hard hats when required. Physical demands include standing, squatting, climbing ladders, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
Requirements- High school diploma or GED.
- Possession of a Universal CFC certification.
- Preferred HVAC Journeyman License in Delaware or completion of a 4‑year HVAC Apprenticeship.
- Training in LOTO.
- Experience with Lean business systems and methodologies such as TPM, 5S, and Standard Work.
- 3–5 years of experience working in commercial settings with commercial equipment.
- Familiarity with ancillary facility equipment including boilers, chillers, air compressors, wells, water systems, air handlers, commercial refrigeration, and cargo‑carries.
- Availability for off‑hours on‑call support and occasional weekend overtime.
The base pay range is $71,180 – $97,878. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short‑ and long‑term disability insurance, paid parking/public transportation, paid time off, paid sick and safe time.
