Maintenance Electrician II – Journeyman
The Maintenance Electrician II – Journeyman is expected to install and repair electrical systems and electrical components on industrial machinery and in factory settings. This role involves daily problem solving and repair of robotic, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and controls‑related issues associated with manufacturing and facility operations.
Responsibilities- Learn the principles, practices, and processes in the discipline.
- Safely and proficiently perform maintenance activities on equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Suggest and implement improvements to existing equipment and designs to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical components and wiring diagrams.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
- Provide technical support to project managers and engineers on projects.
- Represent the team on projects and interface with customers as required.
- Contribute to improving processes, reducing equipment downtime, and controlling costs.
- Provide resolutions for basic to moderately complex problems, exercising judgment within established procedures.
- Train maintenance technicians and apprentices.
Minimum job requirements:
- Associate's degree or certificate in a maintenance‑related field.
- 6+ years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical or maintenance.
- Experience with equipment and automation in metal fabrication, paint, or assembly operations.
- Ability to train apprentices.
Preferred qualifications:
- Intermediate mechanical aptitude and systematic problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of PLC hardware and programming systems, with the ability to maintain and troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment.
- Ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
- Intermediate PC knowledge.
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and machine specifications.
- Ability to acquire and maintain certifications for operation of service equipment.
Regularly required to talk and hear, use hands to manipulate objects or controls, stand, walk, stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. May occasionally lift up to 25–50 pounds. Frequent computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and focus adjustment.
