Overview
The Division of Parks and Recreation operates and maintains 17 state parks and related preserves and greenways throughout Delaware. The Division is responsible for providing recreational opportunities and educational programs for the public, and it owns/maintains over 40 tenant houses statewide. This year‑round position will maintain 24 rental units in the northern region of the state.
Responsibilities- Perform repairs and upgrades to rental units within the northern region.
- Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance within internal housing units.
- Assist the Housing Administrator with annual housing inspections.
- Assist the Housing Administrator with maintaining current lists for tasks to be completed for each unit.
- Act as liaison between Housing Administrator and contractors to ensure contracted work is completed in a timely manner and meets the Division’s standards.
- Demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Six months experience in performing work in a variety of trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
- Six months experience in record keeping.
- Knowledge of estimating cost, time, and materials for projects.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
- This is a Casual/Seasonal position, non‑pension eligible, without health care or other benefits.
- Statewide responsibilities require travel throughout the State; the State of Delaware provides transportation services to State agencies.
- DNREC does not provide sponsorship for holders of H‑1B Visas.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
