Kafka Messaging Engineer

Overview

Location: 3 days a week on site out of Newark DE or Charlotte NC

Required Pay Scale: $60-65hr W2

Due to client requirements this role is only open to USC or GC candidates

SUMMARY

Looking for an Application Development and Maintenance Lead with 10+ years Industry Experience. Responsible for developing and delivering on complex software requirements to accomplish business goals.

• Understand the complete end-to-end architecture involving DB2, IBM IIDR, Kafka and Single Store.
• Understand the operating production environments, configurations.
• Act as a technical / team lead guiding a few engineers in application support work, in addition to being an Individual Contributor.
• On development assignments, follow established guidelines.
• Ensure that software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
• Write code, configuration, perform unit testing, and ensure the solution can be integrated into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces.
• Contribute to story refinement and definition of requirements.
• Participate and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
• Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
• Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
• Utilize multiple architectural components (data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.
• Assist the team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
• Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify issues, and triage the underlying cause.
• Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
• Participate and coach team members in delivery/release (CI-CD) events (e.g., branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes).
• Senior Database Application Development experience with RDBMS such as MemSQL, Oracle, or DB2.
• Experience with Store Procedures and SQLs.
• Experience with JDBC code development protocol.
• Working Java knowledge to write code using Eclipse or Intelli
  
  J; understanding of Java coding standards and deployment process.
• Knowledge of Splunk and Dynatrace for logging and monitoring.
• Querying Splunk logs and dashboard creation for analysis.
• Kafka-based development with hands-on experience on Kafka clusters, including writing producer/consumer code.
• Knowledge about Kafka multi-region stretch clusters and optimal cluster configuration.
• Knowledge of distributed Kafka Connect clusters and developing Kafka connectors with understanding of performance configuration.
• Linux/Unix usage with Python or shell scripts for automation.
• Experience with data replication tools like IBM IIDR is a plus.
• Experience with Agile development and tools like Jira.

• 10+ years Industry Experience
• Seasoned Kafka Development Lead with hands-on experience on Kafka cluster
• Knowledge about Kafka multi-region stretch cluster and optimal cluster configuration
• Knowledge of distributed Kafka Connect clusters and developing Kafka connectors with understanding of performance configuration
• Experience with Data Replication Technologies and familiarity with Change Data Capture products
• Working experience with RDBMS such as MemSQL, Oracle and DB2
• Experience with Store Procedures, SQLs and JDBC code development protocol
• Java knowledge to write code using Eclipse or Intelli
