Position: Van Driver - (2026-2027 School Year)

Van Driver

Direct Supervisor: Director of Auxiliary Programs
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Type: Part-Time Faculty Employee

The Van Driver is a reliable and safety-focused member of the school community who plays a key role in supporting the daily experience of students. Works closely with students and families to ensure the safe and timely transportation of students (age five through eighth grade) to and from school.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely transport students to and from school
  • Maintain a punctual and consistent schedule, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off at designated locations
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the van to ensure it is in safe operating condition
  • Report any mechanical issues or student safety concerns immediately to the appropriate school personnel
  • Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior
  • Enforce school rules and safety policies while students are in transit
  • Assist students in boarding and exiting the van when necessary, ensuring their safety
  • Ensure all passengers and belongings are removed from the van at the end of each route
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with students, parents, and staff
  • Attend required training sessions, safety meetings, and certification renewals
  • Follow all traffic laws, school policies, and transportation regulations
  • Remain calm and professional in emergency situations and know the procedures for accidents or vehicle breakdowns
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience driving students
  • Maintain a clean Division of Motor Vehicle Driving Record

The Van Driver is a 10-month position and follows the academic calendar.
