We are seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper with a strong background in real estate accounting to manage day-to-day financial operations and support ownership with accurate reporting and financial controls.
Position OverviewThe Full-Charge Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing the complete accounting cycle for multiple entities and properties, including property management accounting, development tracking, and financial reporting. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience working within a real estate environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple real estate entities and properties
- Maintain general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and tenant billing
- Process rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and property operating expenses
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements and internal reporting packages
- Track development and construction project costs and budgets
- Coordinate with property managers, contractors, and ownership on financial matters
- Assist with year-end closing and coordination with external CPA firms
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Monitor cash flow across entities and properties
- 3ā7+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Real estate, property management, or development accounting experience required
- Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany transactions
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in Quick Books (Desktop or Online preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (reconciliations, reporting, data organization)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Property management software experience (Rent Manager, or similar)
- Experience with construction or development cost tracking
- Familiarity with NYC real estate operations and vendor coordination
