Accountant, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst

Job Summary

This role performs the following:

• Record, review and analyze utility construction and fixed asset transactions for proper GAAP and FERC financial statement recording, reporting and rate recovery of Property, Plant & Equipment Investments and related accounts.
• Develop fixed asset analyses, special reports and perform General Ledger reconciliation and analysis using the Power Plant Fixed Asset System.
• Support Utility Finance in developing 5‑year plans, annual budgets including annual depreciation and amortization models.
• Provide support for regulatory Base Rate Cases, Special Infrastructure, and other regulatory filings as well as other ad hoc reports and analyses for internal and external clients, including BPU independent monitors.
• Support all internal and external audit requests and reviews. Develop Power Plant reports and queries. Collaborate with Power Plant Support, IT and Financial Systems Support to optimize the system and implement system and process improvements. Perform ad hoc projects as necessary.

• Schedules and disclosures required for inclusion in the client’s annual Form 10‑K and quarterly 10‑Q’s filed with the Securities & Exchange Commission.
• Schedules and disclosures required for inclusion in the client’s annual FERC Form 1 and other filings with government oversight agencies.
• Maintain the company’s Sarbanes‑Oxley internal control environment by ensuring proper controls and compliance.
• Actual versus prior‑year analytics on various Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts.

Provide support to the External Reporting Department to complete 10Q/K Notes, MD&A and Press Release Attachments.

• Support actual versus plan variance process by preparing monthly financial reports and analysis and supporting schedules provided monthly to senior management.
• Coordinate internal and external audit requests.

• All necessary account analyses and reconciliations.
• Ad‑hoc special projects.
• Interact with business leaders and associates and work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or CPA designation with a related degree.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Knowledge of SAP.
• Demonstrated accounting, PC, written and verbal communication skills and analytical abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills utilizing V‑lookup, pivot tables and advanced formulas.
• Ability to work independently, accomplish tasks and resolve issues with a sense of urgency under tight timelines.

• Utility property accounting knowledge.
• Knowledge of the Power Plant fixed asset system.
• CPA and/or advanced degree.
• SAP experience in financial statements preparation and analysis.
• Process automation experience.
