Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented part-time Entry-Level Bookkeeper to join a team in Newark, New Jersey in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting support, accurate financial recordkeeping, and managing high-volume transactional work in a collaborative office setting. The role is expected to begin on a part-time schedule and transition to a permanent schedule as the individual becomes established in the position.

Responsibilities:

- Process a high volume of accounts payable transactions with strong attention to accuracy and timeliness.

- Enter financial and operational data manually into internal records and spreadsheets while maintaining organized documentation.

- Record daily cash activity and ensure entries are updated consistently in the accounting system.

- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies by reviewing supporting records and account activity.

- Complete cash reconciliations to verify balances and support accurate reporting.

- Use Excel, including pivot tables, to organize data, review transactions, and assist with financial tracking.

- Provide general administrative and office support as needed to help maintain efficient day-to-day operations.

- Work within Sage accounting software for bookkeeping tasks, with training available for candidates who are new to the platform.

Requirements - Prior experience in bookkeeping or entry-level accounting support.

- Hands-on knowledge of accounts payable processes; exposure to accounts receivable is a plus.

- Ability to complete bank reconciliations and cash reconciliations accurately.

- Strong data entry skills with a high degree of precision and consistency.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables.

- Familiarity with Sage accounting software or the ability to learn it quickly with training.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple routine tasks in an office environment.
