PT Faculty Support

Rutgers University – Newark, an urban public research anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Part-Time Faculty Support. Reporting directly to the Personnel Manager, PT Faculty Support provides administrative support to full and part-time faculty by assisting with course preparation and evaluation, making travel arrangements, preparing expense reports, procuring expenses, as required, composing routine correspondence, assisting in the preparation of classroom materials, and using office technology and software.

The incumbent is the first line of assistance to assigned professors, working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

  • Provides instructional and research support to all full-time and adjunct faculty members each semester.
  • Prepare and post electronic course materials, including documents, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Make business travel arrangements, schedule appointments, and prepare expense reports in accordance with university policy.
  • Prepare purchase orders, check requests, and processes through the Sci Quest purchasing system. According to university policy.
  • Create mailings, including mail merges and labels, and handle parcel mailing.
  • Conduct web search and compilation of materials on selected topics.
  • Type, format, and edit in various word processing formats.
  • Complete other work consistent with a basic understanding of the policies and procedures of the Faculty Services Department.
  • Work under direct supervision with specific instructions on routine or semi-routine work that requires knowledge of general administrative practices and established work practices for the department.

Salary Details - $20-$25 per hour

Work Arrangement
- Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the Flex Work@RU Application System.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of modern office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping, and report writing. Excellent communication skills and computer literacy. Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, and Word Perfect Software. Working knowledge of electronic mail, file sharing, calendaring, and collaboration tools. Technical ability to perform all tasks, as well as any new technology.
