Trillium Construction is now seeking a Cost Engineer – Infrastructure Project in Newark, NJ (Newark International Airport Project Site)!
Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000 depending on experience.

The Cost Engineer will support project leadership by managing project cost controls, change orders, and financial documentation for a major infrastructure project. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will work closely with the project team to monitor budgets, track change orders, manage subcontractor cost requests, and ensure accurate cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Cost Management & Project Controls- Assist the Project Manager and project team with input, monitoring, and implementation of the JDE Quantity Book.
- Track and manage Potential Change Orders (PCOs) from initiation through final approval.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports and financial forecasts for internal and external project stakeholders.
- Support monthly claims cost reporting and financial analysis.
- Review owner notices and document potential cost and schedule impacts.
- Draft project correspondence, letters, and notices related to contract and change management.
- Manage subcontractor Change Order Requests (CORs) including cost evaluation, estimating, negotiation support, and documentation.
- Administer owner change directives and assist with cost evaluations and negotiations.
- Review and manage subcontractor payments and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with subcontract terms and conditions.
- Coordinate cost-related documentation with project leadership for review and approval.
- Maintain organized documentation for change orders, cost reports, and contract correspondence.
- Provide accurate cost reporting for all PCOs and project financial updates.
- Assist with project financial reviews and cost forecasting.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in cost engineering, cost analysis, or construction financial management
- Experience working on heavy civil, infrastructure, or large building construction projects
- Proficiency in Procore, HCSS estimating tools, Microsoft Excel, and Primavera P6 or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
