Foreman In Training / Foreman / Asst Superintendent

This on-site Construction Manager role oversees day-to-day field operations for large-scale commercial and industrial projects, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and concrete restoration. The position offers the opportunity to lead a site team, manage complex construction activities, and contribute to a growing firm with a substantial backlog of work.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily on-site construction activities for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
  • Manage and enforce safety practices on site to protect all workers and visitors.
  • Plan and execute concrete work, including concrete repair and concrete restoration tasks.
  • Coordinate and supervise a field team of up to 10 workers, ensuring productivity and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain 2-week look-ahead schedules to plan upcoming work and resources.
  • Prepare and review job safety analyses (JSAs) for ongoing and upcoming tasks.
  • Ensure accurate creation and maintenance of as-built documentation for completed work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to guide field execution.
  • Support the management of change orders by identifying scope changes and communicating impacts to project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve field issues and keep work progressing on schedule.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience managing on-site construction activities for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
  • Hands-on experience with concrete work, including concrete repair and concrete restoration.
  • Strong ability to manage and lead a team of up to 10 field staff.
  • Ability to develop and maintain 2-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Experience preparing and implementing job safety analyses (JSAs).
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining as-built documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with managing or supporting change orders in a construction environment.
  • Strong focus on jobsite safety and compliance with safety procedures.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site role based at active construction projects, primarily large-scale commercial and industrial sites. The Construction Manager works in a field environment that involves regular exposure to outdoor conditions, construction equipment, and active work areas. The position requires regular presence on the jobsite to supervise crews, monitor safety, and oversee concrete and other construction activities. The work schedule typically follows standard construction hours, with flexibility required to meet project needs and milestones.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
