Construction Manager – Maintenance Facilities

TYLin is seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Maintenance Facilities to oversee the construction of complex maintenance, operations, and support facilities for major aviation and rail + transit clients throughout the Northeastern United States. This is an exciting opportunity to manage the delivery of highly technical buildings that are essential to the operation and maintenance of transportation networks. From aircraft maintenance hangars and airport operations facilities to rail maintenance shops, vehicle storage buildings, maintenance-of-way facilities, and operations control centers, you will play a critical role in delivering infrastructure that supports the safe and efficient movement of millions of passengers every day.

We are looking for a construction professional with extensive experience managing vertical building construction on complex infrastructure programs, with particular expertise in operational facilities, industrial buildings, or transportation maintenance environments.

As Construction Manager – Maintenance Facilities, you will serve as TYLin's on-site construction leader, managing all aspects of project execution from pre-construction planning through commissioning and final turnover. You will coordinate closely with owners, contractors, design consultants, equipment vendors, commissioning teams, and facility operators to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to ongoing transportation operations. Success in this role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, technical knowledge of complex building systems, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in active operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the construction of maintenance facilities, operations buildings, and transportation support infrastructure from groundbreaking through project closeout.
  • Serve as TYLin's primary field representative and the client's trusted advisor during construction.
  • Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, design consultants, equipment suppliers, commissioning agents, and client representatives.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with contract documents, safety requirements, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
  • Lead construction progress meetings and facilitate timely resolution of field issues.
  • Review and evaluate contractor schedules, phasing plans, payment applications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and claims.
  • Coordinate installation and commissioning of complex building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire protection, specialty equipment, and building automation systems.
  • Support constructability reviews, value engineering, and risk management throughout the construction process.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, occupancy approvals, and facility turnover.
  • Ensure construction activities are planned to minimize operational impacts on adjacent transportation facilities.
  • Prepare executive-level reports, schedule updates, and project performance metrics.
  • Mentor junior construction management staff and contribute to a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible construction management experience on complex vertical building projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering maintenance facilities, industrial buildings, operations facilities, transportation support buildings, or similar mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial building construction, including structural systems, architectural finishes, and complex MEP systems.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary contractors and consultants throughout construction.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
  • Willingness to work primarily from project sites throughout the Northeast.

Preferred

  • Experience delivering projects for aviation or rail + transit clients.
  • Experience with facilities such as aircraft maintenance hangars, rail maintenance shops, bus maintenance garages, operations control centers, maintenance-of-way facilities, equipment storage buildings, or similar transportation infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), PMP, or equivalent professional certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • Experience with Design-Build, CMAR, Progressive Design-Build, or Public-Private Partnership (P3) delivery methods.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.
