Position Details
PT Day, Mon-Fri, 4 hrs/day
The Dental Hygienist works under the supervision of a licensed dentist to provide oral health care and education to patients. This role focuses on preventive care, assisting with dental procedures, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the dental unit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conducts patient screenings, including reviewing medical history and assessing oral health conditions.
- Performs professional dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride applications.
- Educates patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary habits.
- Takes and develops dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
- Administers local anesthetics as permitted by state regulations.
- Prepares and maintains dental instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Assists the dentist during examinations and treatment, providing necessary instruments and support.
- Maintains accurate patient records, charting findings, and documenting procedures performed.
- Ensures compliance with infection control protocols and maintains a sterile environment.
- Assists in ordering and maintaining inventory of dental supplies.
- Maintains current CPR/AED certification.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
- Certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide administration (if required by state regulations).
- CPR/BLS certification required.

- Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate effectively.
- Frequently required to use hands to handle dental instruments and operate equipment.
- May need to assist patients in and out of the dental chair.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
