Position SummaryThe Center for Pre-College Programs is in need of STEM Teachers for various Engineering based Saturday and Summer 2026 instruction. The teacher will work with high achieving students in various STEM related classroom instruction.
Teacher / Instructor provides inquiry-based, product-oriented instruction for the students that will enhance students' knowledge, understanding and application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) content/concepts, study skills, thinking skills, problem solving strategies and communication skills.
Subjects and Grade Levels (Saturdays and Summer Program 2026)- Computer Science - grades 5-11
- Robotics - grades 5-11
- English Language Arts - grades 5-8
- Mathematics - grades 5-11
- Environmental, mechanical, industrial, civil, biomedical, electrical, and computer engineering
- Physical education - grades 5-11
- College and Career Readiness Teacher/Counselor
- Works collaboratively with appropriate program staff on the content of the instructional program and related activities.
- Provides a teaching plan or class outline, with handouts, for assigned classes that adhere to the guiding principles of the Early College Preparatory Programs.
- Notifies the Program Directors if they must be absent or late for any reason.
- Teacher Certification.
- Background Check.
- Must be a certificated elementary, middle or high school teacher in the content area assigned and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Possesses good leadership abilities and communication skills.
- Experienced in hands‑on activities and cooperative learning and teaching.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate for this position is $50.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
