MISSION:

WHO YOU ARE:
A dedicated Performing Arts teacher who will seek to accomplish MPTCS's philosophy of education through instruction and example and provide lessons that meet students' requirements, interests, and capabilities. You will design an age-appropriate curriculum and activities to introduce young learners to the fundamentals of theater, including acting, storytelling, and stagecraft. Students will use movement, voice, language, and ideas to explore roles, characters, relationships, and situations.
The literacy skills that students develop through drama will assist them in learning to think, move, speak, and act confidently. You will have the ability to form interpersonal relationships with all your students and take an interest in their general well-being.
Do you have what it takes?
* Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Theatre or Performing Arts
* NJ DOE Elementary School Teacher in Grades K-6 Certification or a Visual and Performing Arts certification.
* Desired Skills and Qualities:
* Able to communicate expectations clearly and effectively with your students, provide them with detailed steps for executing projects, and spell out the larger context for them when they have questions.
* Able to motivate and inspire others, the ability to keep students focused on a single goal without getting distracted, and a willingness to acknowledge and learn from mistakes.
* Strategically align everyday objectives with the organization's larger mission, set priorities for students on a weekly and monthly basis, and course correct as needed.
THE ROLE:
* Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
* Evaluate student progress regularly and prepare progress reports.
* Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and special abilities.
* Create a supportive and caring classroom environment in which students can learn and interact positively with one another; through student-centered instruction, collaboration, and authentic assessment.
* Organize interactive workshops, facilitate dramatic play sessions, coordinate school productions or performances, and incorporate elements of literacy and language development into theater lessons
* Engage families in support of the school's goals by communicating student progress, upcoming events, and programmatic changes
* Create meaningful incentives to reward good behavior and effective consequences to address misbehaviors
* Maintain an open and cooperative relationship with students, colleagues, and parents.
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Salary range: BA $64,570 - $92,200 / MA $65,820 - $93,450
* Term of Employment: 10.5 Months
