QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Math, or Physics or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned field(s) with some advanced coursework completed. Previous experience tutoring or providing instructional assistance to engineering or science students. Must possess exceptional computer, database and spreadsheet knowledge, good communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrate model behavior; foster/maintain safe environment of respect and inclusion for students, staff, faculty, and other members of the community from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and teaching experience
Summary of Duties- 50% – Work one-on-one or in small groups to communicate course concepts, respond to questions, review notes, assist in test preparation and observe study skills. Provide resources and learning support to Engineering students and provide open workshop opportunities for Engineering students.
- 15% – Consult with professional staff on teaching methods for students with special needs. Work with Engineering lab coordinator to offer in-lab tutoring for Engineering students and with Engineering faculty to facilitate in-class embedded tutoring.
- 15% – Make referrals to other academic support personnel and additional language partnerships and resources as needed.
- 10% – Consult with faculty on specific course content as needed.
- 10% – Maintain accurate records of online and in-person tutoring sessions and workshop attendance. Assist other tutors in completing required paperwork when necessary. Perform independently under supervision of the Tutoring Coordinator. Other Duties as assigned.
Tutors may be assigned to one or more campuses:
Newark, Coshocton, Mt. Vernon, and Pataskala. Tutors should have some experience with online learning/ tutoring through Zoom.
