SUMMARY: The Leaguers, Incorporated is seeking a Full-time Head Start Instructional Coach for its Head Start Program.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Head Start Instructional Coach provides support for Head Start education staff in the planning, coordination and implementation of the education program. Instructional Coaches will work in collaboration with program staff to ensure classroom implementation meets and exceeds mandates from federal and state agencies as local licensing agencies inclusive of Early Learning and School Readiness, Class and the Creative Curriculum core features.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides reflective supervision, coach and mentor the Head Start Teacher to ensure the implementation of the education program reflects the philosophy and curriculum: promote and support professional development of the Head Start education staff;
- Coaches and mentors educational staff to identify and achieve professional development goals;
- Coaches and mentors Head Start educational staff on curriculum topics, areas observe, data priorities and teacher requests;
- Follow up on outside consultant's training, mentoring and coaching;
- In conjunction with the Family Advocate, ensure Family/Child reviews are held and monitor follow up process;
- Ensure the integration of Mental Halth & Disabilities and Family Srvices into the IEP and case consultation process;
- Provide Supervision of the Floater and Substitute Teachers;
- Plans and coordinates the center's education program for children 3-5 in conjunction with the Education Leadersip team;
- Monitors and ensures Head Start education plansand other requied documentation for children and classrooms are completed;
- Regularly completes and documents classroom observations as required;
- Participates in the development of program policies, service delivery plans and ongoing monitoring of program quality;
- Ensures the use of child and classroom data in lesson planning and individualization;
- Conduct data review meetings with teaching teams and develop plans for use of data;
- Ensures all assigned program reports are completed and submitted on a timely basis;
- Ensure that all Head Start child screenings and assessments are conducted within appropriate timelines;
- Coordinates evaluations and outcomes assessment with evaluation teams and coordinate feedback to teaching teams;
- Ensures all mandates of Head Start performance standards, State and Local licensing are met;
- Ensure that inventory of all classroom equipment is maintained;
- ensure educational home visits are conducted and completed;
- Ensures all confidential information is protected;
- Participates in recruitment efforts of program to hel maintain full program enrollment;
- Establishes Head Start educational staff schedules, inclusing approval of time off requests;
- Coordinates placement of classroom substitutes and floaters and ensure appropriate classroom coverage;
- Attend site teacher/parent conferences and classropm team meetings;
- Attends all required meetings and trainings including supervisory trainings;
- Collaborates with Family Advocates and the Site Manager to develop effective partnership with families by addressing parent's concerns;
- All other duties that align with the position.
- MUST have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience;
- Teacher certification prefered;
- Two (2) years of supervison/administration experience in an early childhood setting, prefered;
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations;
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
