Position Details

Title: Teacher of the Handicapped/Teacher of Students with Disabilities

Location: New Providence, NJ and Warren, NJ

Duration: ASAP to 25/26 school year end

Onsite/Virtual: Onsite

Position Type: Contract

Working Hours: 30 to 35 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday

Student Age Group: K-8 or K-6 or P-3

Case Load: Varies with grades, school will be providing the details directly.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
  • Create, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students, ensuring goals are met and documented appropriately.
  • Conduct assessments and monitor student progress to track their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work closely with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to coordinate services and ensure a cohesive educational plan for each student.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the unique needs of students with special needs.
Qualifications
  • NJ DOE Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification.
  • K-8 or K-6 or P-3 Instructional Certification required.
  • Preferred experience in classrooms working with students with autism spectrum disorder.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to provide direction and support to classroom teacher assistants.
