Assigned Educational Assistant

10 months (200-day contract)

To plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a pre-kindergarten learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

• Bachelor's degree as required by the State of Tennessee
• Teacher's certificate with qualifying endorsement area
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must undergo a physical exam by a healthcare provider every three (3) years
• Must receive at least 30 hours of documented professional development in the area of early childhood education
• FBI/TBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance every five (5) years

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

• Conduct and maintain a highly organized and professionally functioning classroom.
• Administer developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
• Collaborate with other faculty in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches.
• Assess student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Show empathy and understanding of students.
• Proactively resolve problems that might arise with students and parents.
• Direct educational assistant, student teachers, substitutes, volunteers, and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
• Facilitate preschool students' learning for the purpose of improving the students' academic success and transition to elementary school.
• Follow policies established by Jackson Madison County School Board and Tennessee State Department of Education.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
