Position Overview
Kindergarten Special Education Teacher-Leave Replacement Position at Harding Elementary School
Available from September 1 2026 to June 22 2027. This anticipated position will provide instructional support for kindergarten special education students.
- Valid NJDOE Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification and appropriate elementary instructional certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of special education practices, IEP implementation, differentiated instruction, and effective teaching methods for early childhood/elementary learners.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive, structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Effective communication, collaboration, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and the Child Study Team.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70).

Terms of EmploymentThe position is compensated at the Kenilworth Board of Education's substitute teaching long‑term rates and benefits.
- Per Diem: $125 per day
- Long‑term substitute (less than 6 months): $250 per day
- Long‑term substitute (6 months or longer): $345 per day
- Long‑term, full school year assignment:
Step 1 BA; benefits begin after 30 days of service.
Employees are not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals, and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System. The position is also not eligible for additional stipends for extracurricular activities, coaching, or tuition reimbursement.
Other ConsiderationsTime accrued in a leave replacement position does not count toward tenure, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:16-1:1.
