The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of School-to-College and Career Coordinator.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate as deemed necessary by https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
  • New Jersey Standard Teaching Certificate.
  • New Jersey Cooperative Education Coordinator License (required).
  • New Jersey Cooperative Education Coordinator License/Hazardous Occupations (preferred).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience.
  • A valid New Jersey Driver's License for worksite visitations.
  • Excellent writing skills needed.
  • Letters of recommendation: which should include one (1) from current principal or supervisor.
  • Knowledge of School-to-Career programs, school-based learning, work-based learning and connecting activities.
  • Knowledge of current workforce and/or economic development in the Greater Newark area.
  • Ability to work with School-to-Career staff, school-based staff and external partners.
  • Ability to maintain and use a computerized system designed to manage student and partner information.
  • Ability to establish, coordinate, and monitor work-based learning experiences.
  • Completes DOE approved training program for SLE Coordinator as specified in New Jersey Structured Learning Experience Manual. (Must meet all of the DOE administrative code on the personnel requirements related to Work-Based Learning program.)
Basic Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist students in making successful School-to-Career transitions.
  • Develop work-based learning experiences for students that provide the knowledge, skills, abilities and opportunities necessary for successful transition into the workforce or post-secondary education programs.
  • Serve as an educational resource person to staff at your school by serving on the STC Administrative Team.
  • Oversee initiatives related to preparing students to meet standards and competencies.
  • Provide professional development to school-based staff on school-based learning, work-based learning and connecting activities.
  • Coordinate student related activities in school-based learning, work-based learning and connecting activities.
  • Identify students to be served and assist the STC Job Developers in identifying and working with community partners and evaluating the success of STC implementation and student outcomes.
  • Plan and assist in the retrieval, summarization, and analysis of all required reports.
  • Assume responsibility for the implementation of student/program evaluation instruments.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Guide staff, parents and community in the interpretation of the school district's guidelines in compliance with Federal, State and District rules and regulations.
  • Participate in activities that promote professional growth.
  • Investigate placement opportunities and disseminate information regarding these opportunities.
  • Coordinating and planning trips and documentation.
  • Organizing Advisory Committee, meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Review and monitor student academic progress to ensure student success within CTE programs.
  • Collaborate on development of student schedules to ensure students are working towards completion status.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
  • Place and supervise all students in school sponsored work-base experiences (other than Cooperative Education Experiences and Apprenticeships) in non-hazardous occupations in any Career Cluster.

  • Salary Range: $69,250 - $113,875 (2025 - 2026 SY)
  • Employment Period:
    Ten (10) Months
  • Newark Teachers' Union (N.T.U.)
