Position Overview
The Academic Foundations Center at Rutgers University–Newark (RU‑N) seeks part‑time instructors (Lecturer/Coadjunct) for Fall 2026 to teach College Algebra Support and/or Service Learning courses. Responsibilities include preparing course material, creating and posting a syllabus, presenting material, holding office hours, responding to student emails, grading assignments and exams, and submitting final grades. Appointments may require instruction during the day, evenings, weekends, off‑campus, online, hybrid, or remote settings based on departmental needs.
SalaryMinimum compensation of $2,777 per credit. The final offer may vary based on qualifications, experience, expertise, and available department or grant funds.

- Prepare comprehensive course material and create a clear, up‑to‑date syllabus.
- Present lecture content during assigned class times.
- Hold office hours and provide additional out‑of‑class support as needed.
- Respond promptly to student emails and inquiries.
- Design, administer, and grade assessments (assignments, exams, projects).
- Submit final grades in a timely and accurate manner.
- Minimum of a Master’s degree with 2–3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of course content.
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Instruction may occur during day, evening, weekend, or off‑campus sessions, including online and hybrid formats.
