Qualifications and requirements include an appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) as deemed necessary by the New Jersey Department of Education. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Basic functions and responsibilities include planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, evaluating student progress, instructing pupils in citizenship and basic communications skills, supervising out-of-classroom activities, and maintaining standards of pupil behavior. The teacher will also be responsible for selecting and requisitioning books and instructional materials, developing instructional plans, participating in professional growth activities, communicating with parents, and performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
The position reports to the principal and has a salary range of $70,000-$114,750 for a ten-month employment period. The Newark Teacher's Union (NTU) is the union affiliation for this position.
