Instructional Coach
The Superintendent invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the position of Instructional Coach supporting various locations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with expertise in specific curriculum areas and operations to make a lasting impact on Newark's students and families. This position may also include other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include implementing strategic initiatives that align with the district's vision for specific curriculum and instruction, spending a minimum of 75% of work time in the school classroom providing instructional support to teachers, modeling best practices, and co-teaching lessons. The Instructional Coach will also provide coaching and mentoring to teachers to enhance their instructional practices, design and deliver professional development opportunities for teachers, support the implementation of curriculum, instructional resources, and professional development in curriculum specific areas, assist in assessing the educational needs of schools and identifying ways they can help meet those needs, facilitate the acquisition of resources for schools related to curriculum specific initiatives, collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent or Directors and other applicable district offices and departments to develop and implement programs that meet specified goals, assist in planning and managing the implementation of the district's summer school programs with focus on specific curriculum areas during the summer season, and perform other duties and tasks assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and/or Director(s).
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passionate belief that all students can achieve at high levels, deep knowledge of effective policies, strategies, and resources that promote student achievement in specific curriculum areas, personal accountability for serving all students and ensuring their success, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strong goal orientation and a focus on results, outstanding critical thinking skills, and excellent project management and execution skills.
Minimum qualifications include a New Jersey Permanent Teacher Certificate in Specific Content/Curriculum area, three to five years of relevant experience, and a Master's Degree in Education or a related field preferred. The position reports to the Director or Assistant Superintendent with a salary range of $74,063 to $129,952 for the school year. The employment period is twelve months, and the union affiliation is the Newark Teachers Union (NTU).
