After-School Program Director, Alpha

On-site at an Alpha campus in New York City, NY;
Miami, FL; or San Francisco, CA – relocation assistance available.

Annual salary: $200,000. Full-time (40 hours per week), immediately available.

Alpha’s two‑hour instructional model frees educators to focus on coaching and mentorship. The role is to work directly with K‑3 students and Guides (adult mentors) to elevate performance, build life‑skills, and maintain high standards. You will be embedded daily on campus, analyzing data, delivering workshops, and creating scalable coaching playbooks.

• Coach Guides and students using performance metrics, classroom observations, and direct feedback to hold all parties accountable to measurable objectives.
• Lead one‑hour interactive workshops for K‑3 students covering life skills such as public speaking, concentration, teamwork, perseverance, accountability, and feedback exchange.
• Conduct one‑on‑one and small‑group motivational sessions linking each child’s personal goals and interests to tangible academic achievement.
• Create and iterate playbooks that convert effective methods into reproducible systems other Guides can implement reliably.
• Train Guides on these playbooks and demonstrate excellence in facilitation to maintain quality standards as the team expands.

• Teaching academic content or presenting lectures from the front of the classroom; adaptive technology handles instruction while you focus on coaching.
• Reducing expectations when a student encounters difficulty.
• Managing remotely as traditional instructional coaches do; you remain embedded daily with your own cohort.
• Managing the entire campus budget, operations, or parent communications; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities.
• Advocating for traditional pedagogical methods or adhering to a standard K‑12 curriculum.

• Ability to work on‑site at an Alpha campus in New York City, NY;
  Miami, FL; or San Francisco, CA – relocation assistance available.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with elementary‑age children (ages 5‑9).
• Proven experience leading a team of 5 or more individuals, including hiring and removing members based on performance.
• Demonstrated experience building, launching, or substantially expanding a program, team, school, or initiative from inception.
• Comfortable operating in an educational environment that rejects conventional teaching approaches.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Demonstrated success using data, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and achieve measurable progress.
• Experience coaching or supervising other adults to reach measurable results, beyond performing tasks independently.
• Experience in youth development, camp management, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment settings where motivation played a central role.
• Confidence and ability to facilitate sessions or speak publicly before groups of young children.
