TEACHER OF BILINGUAL EDUCATION
Position Overview:
The Newark Board of Education invites qualified teachers to join our community of educators. The role fosters a supportive environment where learning is limitless and bilingual students thrive.

Qualifications And Requirements- An appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) as required by the department.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Evaluate student progress regularly and prepare progress reports.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and district regulations.
- Provide individual, small, and/or large group instruction to adapt the curriculum to students with varying intellectual and special abilities.
- Teach pupils proper care and use of textbooks, equipment, and materials.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to promote an orderly and productive environment.
- Select and requisition books, instructional materials, equipment, and aids, and maintain inventory records.
- Develop instructional plans and organize class time for a balanced program of instruction.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in district in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Supervise out-of-classroom activities for pupils during the assigned working day, as required.
- Plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other staff to assess and help pupils resolve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Communicate with parents and pupil personnel staff about individual pupil progress and development.
- Maintain attendance accounting and business service as required.
- Develop and participate in student activities and faculty committees.
- Act as a resource person on an interdepartmental level to relate appropriate aspects of the subject area to other subjects.
- Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned by the supervisor.
REPORTS TO: Principal
Salary, Terms & Affiliation- Salary: $70,000 - $114,750
- Employment Period:
Ten (10) months - Union Affiliation:
Newark Teacher's Union (NTU)
