Director – Career and Technical Education
Director – Career and Technical Education is responsible for the overall leadership, management, planning, and implementation of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The incumbent sets policy, oversees curriculum and resource development, liaises with school administrators, and ensures alignment with district goals.
Qualifications and Requirements- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- New Jersey Department of Education Standard Principal Certificate.
- New Jersey Department of Education School Administrator Certificate (Preferred).
- New Jersey Department of Education Teacher Certification.
- Three to five years of experience teaching and supervising CTE personnel.
- Three to five years of experience working as a Principal (Preferred).
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English; use of American Sign Language or Braille acceptable.
- Ability to perform essential functions with reasonable accommodation for mental or physical disabilities.
- Sets policy, organization, and duties of departmental staff.
- Initiates short‑ and long‑range planning.
- Recommends curriculum and program development and implementation.
- Researches education trends, resources, and materials.
- Maintains productive liaison with school administrators, teachers, students, business, and community groups.
- Maintains liaison with county, state, and federal administrators.
- Promotes positive climate through public relations.
- Cooperates with other departments, municipal agencies, and local institutions.
- Recommends appointment and assignment of supervisors and staff.
- Supervises, maintains records, and evaluates programs.
- Prepares reports for central office and external agencies.
- Consults on selection of instructional materials.
- Prepares and revises departmental budgets.
- Prepares grant proposals.
- Provides program services to schools.
- Serves on professional committees.
- Assists in recruitment of instructional personnel.
- Prepares spaces for new or renovated activity rooms, including specifications for furniture and equipment.
- Coordinates and collaborates with diverse professional groups.
- Manages multiple projects and goals simultaneously.
- Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
Salary, Employment Period, and Union Affiliation- Salary range: $156,000 – $171,000, commensurate with experience.
- Employment period: 12 months.
