Qualifications and requirements include an appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) as deemed necessary by https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred, unless otherwise specified by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Basic functions and responsibilities include planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, evaluating student progress on a regular basis and preparing progress reports, instructing pupils in citizenship, basic communications skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, providing individual, small, and/or large group instruction, supervising out-of-classroom activities for pupils during the assigned working day, and planning and coordinating the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals.

The position reports to the principal with a salary range of $70,000-$114,750 for a ten-month employment period. The Newark Teacher's Union (NTU) is the union affiliation.
