- The Center for Pre College Programs administers precollege and pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students for success in secondary and post-secondary education while promoting a college-going culture.

Posting Summary
- Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a College & Career Institute Instructor for multiple positions within the Center for Pre College Programs. The College & Career Institute Instructor positions are within the Pre College Academy and College & Career Institute, reports to the Program Manager-Pre College Academy.

The College & Career Institute Instructor positions are part-time, temporary, and primarily responsible for providing instruction in Composition & Literature, Mathematics, Science, and various elective courses for grades 6-12. The summer programs operate from late June to mid-August and are offered Monday-Thursday. Our academic year programs align with the academic calendars of various Essex County school districts. They are offered every other Saturday.

(Various positions available)

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
Prepare course materials (e.g., syllabi, presentations, hand-outs, reading materials) Create and facilitate team building and mentoring workshops for middle and high school students Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum to enhance student learning and meet program objectives Attend on-site training sessions and complete necessary online modules

FLSA
- Nonexempt

Salary Details - $25-$35 per hour

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Content knowledge required based on academic discipline. Algebra II-Strong Science (Curriculum Provided) Composition & Literature/ English (9th-12th Grades) History College Readiness and Career Preparation

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred Teaching experience, Licensing, and Credentials Experience with low-income, first-generation populations Demonstrated teaching philosophy and methods that encourage the development of active and independent learning Criminal Background Check & 3 Professional References Lab Experience Requested (for Science courses)
