Overview

Seeking a motivated and reliable Energy Engineer, well-versed in conducting comprehensive ASHRAE energy audits, and creating high efficiency solutions in lighting, water, building controls, and HVAC systems for retro-commissioned and new construction buildings in the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. Experienced in providing end-to-end support throughout both the technical and sales processes in customer relations. Experienced in the complete life cycle of projects.

Job Title Energy Engineer (Contract)

Location:

Hybrid to Newark, NJ (we are in the office Tuesday and Wednesday in Newark, however we may have a day in the field for inspections occasionally. Subject to change at clients discretion.

The contract duration is initially 4-6 months, with a likely extension

40 hours/week, standard business hours, Mon-Fri Hybrid, 2 days in office

Hourly Rate: $100.00 per hour

Following experience (or similar) is preferred:

  • Experience working with engineering staff to conduct level I, II, III energy audits per ASHRAE standards as well as whole-building energy modeling of multiple asset types.
  • Conducting feasibility analysis of renewable energy generation projects for real estate applications.
  • Writing, reviewing, and editing technical reports.
  • Performing field inspections and observing/performing functional performance tests.
  • Managing a portfolio of projects on time, on budget, and with technical proficiency.
  • Ensuring the technical quality, accuracy, and managerial aspects of projects.
  • Planning project activities, updating project forecasts, and maintaining accurate records of project milestones.
  • Communicating project budget, checking hours booked, providing task training, oversight, and QC.
  • Assisting with project invoicing, forecasting, and other project management tasks.
  • Attending internal and external meetings in the field as required.
  • Reviewing contractor submittals.
  • Identifying and communicating project staffing needs.
  • Reporting project % complete.
  • Maintaining target utilization rate.
  • Working effectively with both internal project teams and external clients.
Daily Duties
  • Provide program management oversight over scope, schedule and budget of energy efficiency projects in compliance with the BPU Order and Client procedures.
  • Ensure projects meet all program requirements, including project scope and cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain the processes for implementing energy efficiency projects and programs in accordance with requirements for BPU approved programs.
  • Interface with Client associates, vendors, customers and outside consultants to assure the Program rules and requirements are maintained, the projects are cost effective and the information needed for management and regulatory reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Perform and oversee program and project QA/QC as required;
    Apply knowledge in energy savings measures and techniques to program and project oversight
  • Manage customer relationships to provide program services with a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and direct the activities of vendors and contractors. Review vendor deliverables. Monitor vendor performance, and review/process vendor invoices.
  • Ensure vendor and employee compliance with safety protocols and practices.
  • Compile and analyze data from various projects / sources to monitor the status of customer projects and report to management. Projects may include the installation of various energy conservation measures (ECMs) such as HVAC, lighting, motors, energy management systems, etc., as appropriate for the program.
  • Analyze performance results for management reports;
    Provide monthly project status forecasts
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests as necessary.
  • During storm restoration efforts, may be required to perform functions outside of routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
