The Role

Office Engineer (Civil)

This role supports major transportation and heavy civil infrastructure projects in New Jersey, providing critical coordination and technical support between field operations, project management teams, contractors, and client stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and experienced managing construction documentation, project tracking, and coordination activities within complex infrastructure environments.

What You'll Do
  • Support daily project coordination activities for active heavy civil and transportation construction projects.
  • Maintain and track project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, daily reports, schedules, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate with field staff, contractors, engineers, consultants, and client representatives regarding project deliverables and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with review and processing of construction submittals, technical documentation, and contract-related records.
  • Monitor project schedules, action items, and outstanding issues to help support timely project delivery.
  • Prepare reports, logs, spreadsheets, and status updates for project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support construction progress tracking, quantity verification, and project controls coordination efforts.
  • Participate in project meetings, field coordination discussions, and document review sessions.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical project records in accordance with project and agency requirements.
  • Assist with contract administration activities and project closeout documentation as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting civil construction, transportation, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects.
  • Experience working on public-sector or agency-driven infrastructure programs strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation processes including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with project management or document control systems such as Procore, e-Builder, Primavera P6, Project Wise, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced construction and infrastructure project environments.

Salary

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $40 - $70 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
