Job Overview
The Mechanical Engineer II will join KDP’s Appliance organization and work on cross-functional teams, developing next generation technology for Keurig brewer appliances.
The Mechanical Engineer II will support mechanical design activities that are critical to new and existing appliance development. Under minimal supervision from engineering management, the Mechanical Engineer II will optimize mechanical and hydraulic prototype components that operate under structural load as well as under temperature and pressure, including seals, pressure chambers, mechanisms, valves, test stands, and methods. They will utilize CAD and other modelling techniques to deliver components for test through rapid prototyping methods.
Responsibilities- Ensure project development activities are completed on time, meeting cost, quality & performance targets to support project plans
- Assess and recommend rapid prototyping solutions, including 3D printing, casting, milling
- Utilize Solid Works to develop 3D CAD designs and present engineering design concepts
- Create specifications, drawings and perform tolerance analyses
- Identify Special/ Critical characteristics for designs and drawings
- Perform structural simulations of new mechanical designs through FEA analysis
- Conduct FMEA and risk analysis for modules and components
- Develop learning plans, close knowledge gaps to drive down-selection of design concepts
- Develop test plans and verification methods to prove out design feasibility
- Build physical prototypes and perform Verification and Validation of design concepts
- Support and drive continuous improvement
- Follow all KDP policies and procedures
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3-5 Years of relevant experience
- Experience working in 3D CAD (Solid Works preferred)
- Ability to closely collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional disciplines
- Knowledge of scientific method and experimentation
- Self-starter, ability and willingness to work in analytical and laboratory environments
- Experience with manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, machining and/or rapid prototyping methods
- Experience working in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Tolerance Stack / GD&T
- Experience using Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE) in engineering design
- Salary Range: $70,500 - $93,400
- Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors
