The Survey Technician supports land surveying projects by collecting, processing, and managing field and office survey data. This role assists surveyors and project managers with boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys while ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
Responsibilities- Assist with field surveys for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction stakeout, and utility mapping projects.
- Operate survey equipment including GPS/GNSS receivers, total stations, data collectors, and levels.
- Download, process, and verify field survey data.
- Prepare survey drawings, maps, plats, and exhibits using CAD software.
- Perform calculations related to boundaries, elevations, coordinates, and construction layouts.
- Research deeds, plats, easements, and other land records.
- Maintain survey records, files, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with survey crews, engineers, project managers, and clients.
- Associate's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or related field preferred.
- 1–5 years of surveying experience preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Micro Station, or similar software.
- Familiarity with GPS/GNSS technology and conventional survey equipment.
- Understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and legal descriptions.
- Experience processing field data and creating survey deliverables.
- Familiarity with drone/UAS survey data and LiDAR processing is a plus.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal surveying regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk over uneven terrain and occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
