Forensic Mechanical Engineer: Investigations & Reports

We are seeking a Forensic Mechanical Engineer to join a growing forensic consulting team focused on investigations relating to mechanical system failures, equipment damage, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and industrial/mechanical incidents.

This role involves conducting root cause investigations, site inspections, failure analysis, and technical reporting for insurance carriers, legal teams, property owners, and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to independently manage investigations from start to finish.

• Conduct forensic investigations involving mechanical system failures, HVAC systems, plumbing, fire suppression systems, and industrial equipment
• Perform on-site inspections across commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional properties
• Analyze mechanical failures, construction defects, equipment malfunctions, water losses, fire/explosion incidents, and operational issues
• Determine root cause and origin of failures through engineering analysis and field investigation
• Prepare detailed technical reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations
• Review construction documents, maintenance records, engineering drawings, and photographs
• Collaborate with attorneys, insurance carriers, adjusters, contractors, and clients
• Provide expert witness testimony and litigation support when required
• Manage multiple investigations and maintain project timelines and client communication
