Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Janssen, a Johnson & Johnson company, to jointly develop and commercialize ciltacabtagene autolecuel (cilta‑cel), an immunotherapy for multiple myeloma.
Legend Biotech is seeking a Sr. Director, EHS, Facilities Management & Engineering as part of the Facilities & Engineering team based in Somerset, NJ.
Role OverviewThe Sr. Director, Facilities, Services & Engineering is the senior leader responsible for the strategy, operation, and performance of all Legend Biotech facilities, including GMP manufacturing sites, laboratories, corporate offices, administrative buildings, and shared global infrastructure. The role ensures reliable, safe, compliant, and efficient operations across utilities, engineering, building systems, environmental services, capital project execution, and workplace/office services.
Key Responsibilities- Enterprise Facilities Leadership (GMP & non‑GMP)
- Lead facilities operations for all Legend Biotech locations.
- Ensure consistent service levels, standardized processes, and high reliability.
- Oversee building infrastructure.
- Maintain compliance with global regulatory, corporate, and local requirements.
- GMP Facilities & Utilities
- Oversee critical GMP utilities.
- Ensure validated state and audit readiness.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and EHS.
- Engineering & Equipment Reliability
- Lead engineering support for equipment lifecycle management.
- Manage maintenance strategy, calibration programs, CMMS utilization, and reliability initiatives.
- Support equipment readiness for tech transfers, automation upgrades, and expansion projects.
- Corporate Offices & Workplace Services
- Oversee all corporate office environments, including operations, workspace planning, security, janitorial, cafeteria, reception, mailroom services, and vendor management.
- Ensure a high‑quality, safe, ergonomic, and productive work environment.
- Site Services
- Manage site‑wide services such as waste management, hazardous waste, groundskeeping, shipping/receiving, warehousing, sustainability initiatives, and emergency response planning.
- Capital Projects & Expansion
- Lead planning and execution of multi‑million‑dollar capital projects.
- Oversee feasibility studies, scope definition, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Strategic Planning & Budget Management
- Develop a global facilities & engineering strategy.
- Lead multi‑year capital planning, operational budgeting, vendor strategy, and cost optimization.
- Ensure business continuity and long‑term capacity planning.
- Leadership & People Development
- Build and lead a high‑performing, diverse team.
- Drive a culture of safety, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Interact with all levels within the global organization and build strong relations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Architecture, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership in GMP facilities/engineering within biopharma, plus experience leading office/corporate facilities.
- Deep understanding of GEP/GMP, critical utility systems, commissioning/qualification, building systems, and regulatory expectations.
- Experience managing large capital projects and multi‑site operations.
- Strong vendor management, budget ownership, and cross‑functional leadership experience.
- Strategic facility & engineering leadership.
- Technical depth in GMP operations and building management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Financial acumen and project governance.
- Organizational planning & change leadership.
- Ability to manage complexity across manufacturing and office environments.
